At Democracy Prep, we know scholars are strongest when schools and families move together.
Every day, families entrust us with the people they love most. We take that responsibility seriously. Our mission will always center on preparing scholars for success in college, career, and a life of active citizenship, and we also recognize the powerful role families play in helping scholars reach those goals.
As Democracy Prep celebrates its 20th anniversary, we are reflecting on the families who have shaped our story and looking ahead to how we can deepen that partnership in the years to come.
This year, we are proud to launch Democracy Prep Parent University, a first of its kind, yearlong learning experience created for parents and caregivers across our community.
Throughout the year, families will be invited to monthly workshops focused on topics that matter in their everyday lives. Sessions will connect families with experts, trusted community organizations, practical information, and resources they can use long after each workshop ends.
Topics may include financial wellness, credit, homeownership, college planning and FAFSA, career opportunities, family relationships, and other areas that can strengthen families and open new possibilities.
We want families to leave each session with more than information. We want them to leave with useful tools, meaningful connections, clear next steps, and greater confidence navigating the opportunities and challenges ahead.
Families who participate throughout the year will also earn credits toward the Democracy Prep Parent University Certificate in Family Leadership. The year will culminate in a special Family Leadership Celebration recognizing the parents and caregivers who committed to learning, growing, and investing in their families.
For 20 years, Democracy Prep families have been essential partners, advocates, and leaders within our community. Parent University builds on that legacy while creating new opportunities for families to learn, connect, and grow alongside us.
As we celebrate where we have been and begin shaping our next 20 years, we cannot imagine a more meaningful investment than strengthening the families who make our schools so special.
