What Our Families Are Saying
“Democracy Prep is very family-oriented. They keep you posted about how your child is doing. They really care about the students, and they make sure every kid gets every part of their needs met.”
Tynecca Valez
Parent at Harlem Prep Elementary
“I don’t feel like they treat my son like just another number in the school system. They work together to help each child. It’s a team effort. It’s never just one person, it’s everyone coming together.”
Yagaira Tejeda
Parent at Bronx Prep High School
The Democracy Prep Difference
Family and School
Partnership
We create welcoming schools where families and students feel part of an extended family. Teachers communicate often with families about their child’s progress, to ensure no student slips through the cracks.
“Democracy Prep is more than a school. It’s like a family. Principals greet you and ask you how you are doing.”

College Prep Academics
for All
We believe in the limitless academic potential of all students. Beginning in pre-kindergarten, students develop a curiosity for learning and a drive to excel academically.
“Teachers really care about the students. They make sure my child understands every part of the curriculum.”

Civic
Responsibility
We encourage students to make the world a better place through community service and active citizenship. Students learn about civic responsibility through volunteering in the community and voter registration drives.
“Students are prepared to go out and change the world in a positive way. There is a lot of community service. Young people are taught to give back.”

A Well-Rounded
Education
Students have a chance to express themselves and develop their creativity through music, dance, and the arts. During our extended school day, students participate in clubs and sports like basketball and soccer.
“He’d never picked up an instrument before (Democracy Prep), and I can’t believe it when he plays the violin.”

College, Careers
& Beyond
We ensure students develop the knowledge and skills needed for success in college, careers, and beyond. Students receive mentoring and guidance from counselors for six years beyond high school.
“A lot of schools say goodbye (to students) after high school. DP stays in touch with graduates during college. Students are not alone in the journey.”
