The Democracy Prep Difference

Our Dual Mission
Democracy Prep educates responsible citizen-scholars for success in the college and careers of their choice AND for lives of active citizenship.
In close partnership with families, we empower young people with the skills, habits, and values to flourish not only as future learners and workers, but also as neighbors, voters, and community leaders who will strengthen our American democracy and change the world!
College and Career Prep
A Safe, Joyful,
Loving Environment
Our teachers show students how much they care every day. They keep our children safe and make learning fun!
MORE TIME
TO LEARN
Our students attend academic classes for 8 hours per day, 190 days per year, gaining more than 6 years of education time than the average school—plus tutoring and summer learning opportunities for students who
need even more time.
Mirrors, Windows,
AND Rigor
We select only the best curricula and make sure that our texts reflect students’ experiences while exposing them to the wider world.
College Support
Our College Access & Success Team not only gets our students into the best colleges; we also make sure they can afford it and provide support through graduation.
Career Readiness
We’re developing innovative new programs to make sure that our high schoolers can match their talents and interests to the right career pathways for them—setting every Democracy Prep graduate on the road to success.

Growing Active Citizens
Democracy Prep students learn to make a positive difference in their communities and the world. They perform acts of service to others, register voters, lobby for policy change, and use their voices and talents for the greater good.
The Democracy Prep Difference: Voting
A gold-standard randomized control trial study found that “enrolling in Democracy Prep substantially increases the probability that students will vote when they reach adulthood. Democracy Prep increases the voter registration rate of its students by about 16 percentage points and increases the voting rate of its students by about 12 percentage points.”
