A high-quality physical education program is a fundamental part of our K-12 educational experience. The program is designed to instill a lifetime of physical competence, fitness and enjoyment for all scholars.

Physical Education Curriculum

The physical education curriculum at Democracy Prep Public Schools provides intensive instruction in the self-management and motor skills needed to enjoy a wide variety of physical activities, including competitive and noncompetitive sports. Scholars are pushed to remain active 90 percent of the time in class and are challenged to participate in a variety of fitness activities and traditional and non-traditional games.

Our elementary scholars learn through movement experiences using sensory systems. Middle school scholars build on these skills and begin to improve fine and gross motor skills, turning them into complex movements and exercises. High schoolers refine these skills and learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

  • Scholars learn time management: Using their time wisely will help scholars increase their productivity in the classroom, a skill that will be necessary in college and beyond.
  • Scholars become well-rounded: Extracurricular programing allows scholars to diversify their interests, helping them to step outside their comfort zone.
  • Scholars learn about long-term commitments: Committing to an extracurricular sport teaches valuable lessons in seeing something through to the end, win or lose.
  • Scholars learn how to build strong relationships: They will be involved in social activities and will learn the appropriate way to act in social situations.
  • Extracurricular activity enhances college applications: Colleges want well-rounded applicants.

Competitive Sports

Democracy Prep scholars have a variety of competitive sports teams to choose from. The competitive sports program motivates our scholars to work even harder outside the classroom.
