Each year, Democracy Prep Public Schools host the Korean Street Festival (KSF), a celebration of Korean culture for our scholars, teachers, staff, and the greater New York City community. The festival is an opportunity for our schools to share their knowledge of Korean culture through performances and cultural activities. The festival also includes food and prizes.

This will be our 5th annual Korean Street Festival, and we expect it to be our biggest and best yet, with more than 3,000 attendees expected!

ABOUT DEMOCRACY PREP

Democracy Prep is a network of high-performing public charter schools currently serving 7,000 scholars in 22 schools. 100 percent of our graduates are admitted to college.

“The mission of Democracy Prep is to educate responsible citizen-scholars for success in the college of their choice and a life of active citizenship.”

Democracy Prep seeks to transform not only the lives of our scholars, but also the expectation of what public schools can achieve by demonstrating that scholars can perform at high levels regardless of their zip code.

Seth Andrew, the founder of Democracy Prep, was so inspired by his experience teaching English in Korea that he decided to develop schools in the United States that celebrate Korean educational values.

All Democracy Prep high school scholars are required to study the Korean language for three years. By the time our scholars graduate they are fluent in conversational Korean. This type of Korean language program is virtually unheard of in American schools. Our scholars’ participation in the Korean Program makes them competitive job and college applicants.
